Uluru, also known as the ‘heart of Australia’, is the most beautiful of rocky formations in the Northern territory and because of its ancient cultural history as well as its spectacular surroundings it has gained a lot of interest from tourists both domestically and internationally. As a stranded mountain peak tore down by thousands of years of erosion it really looks like a strange natural monument. Given that the territory around it has a lot of natural resources, water springs, waterholes and a lot of vegetation, it has gained worldwide notoriety and it has now been declared a World Heritage Site, for its many unique features and also for the culture that it has brought to life.

A visit here is almost mandatory, especially if you don’t live very far from it . The Australians definitely have to visit it at least once, and, while the trip there has been made more convenient by the late 1950s infrastructure development in the region there are also some other ways of getting to know the place.

Take your car for an out of this world spin. One great way to plan a weekend or even a longer stay in the region is to take your car, share it with your friends or relatives and get going. If you don’t want to take your own car, maybe you want to travel in style in a porsche for example or perhaps you want something more economical, you can always use the services of DriveMyCar Rentals and they will provide you with an huge range of vehicles at incredibly low prices. Do not forget to take beverages with you, but, also, don’t forget that you can also use the natural spring resourses available on site. The trip shouldn’t be difficult, and in most cases, considering the conditions on the roads, you will have a very tranquil experience getting there. The greatest advantage of arriving there by car is the experience itself, seeing how the landscape changes almost instantly around the sacred site. You will first get to see the vegetation being denser and, then, at a moment’s notice, this giant appearing from nowhere, offering an amazing view. If you want to capture the beauty of the experience don’t forget to bring a camera with you. There will certainly be some amazing shots, and some out of this world moments.
Want to see Uluru from above? The helicopter ride is for you! The amazing site will offer a fresh new perspective if you choose to get a bird’s eye view. From above Uluru is even more beautiful. The way the colors impact an otherwise barren ground, the surrounding vegetation and the tens or even hundreds of people who gather around most of the time, all look fabulous. Of course, this will not be a cheap ride, but all things considered, if you can afford it then it’s for a good cause . More often than not you will need to make a reservation a long time before you plan the escapade. There aren’t many companies offering such services but Ayers Rock Resort will accept bookings if they are contacted in advance. The best part is that you can get to experience this wonderful adventure along with your family or friends and really live something extraordinary. If you expected astronomical prices then you can rest assured that at least they don’t leave the ground . For 135$ you can embark on a 15 minute tour of the Uluru peak. Tell your friends to beat that!

Take a Caravan Trip. If you are more interested in a little vacation and also are the kind of person that likes to sleep in his or her own bed, then a caravan trip will offer you just that. Keep in mind though that you will not be allowed to park in the immediate vicinity of the Ayers Rock formation, but keeping a safe distance will still grant you a wonderful opportunity to wake up in the morning with a spectaular view of Uluru. Which is in itself a great accomplishment, given that the 1970’s accommodations have all been relocated outside the immediate vicinity of the peak.
The spiritually rewarding experience – walking. Even if you are not a practiced hiker and you don’t go very often on walking trips, you will be happy to know that, from the immediate vicinity of the adjacent accommodations and resorts, you will need no more than a few hours to get your feet on Uluru. There are, of course some restrictions, so you may need to first consult with the local authorities, but, all in all you will be happy to tread an ancient sun-kissed land. There will be an admittance fee, but it isn’t very high, around 25$. Also, the money will be put to good use in maintaining and restoring the site.

As you can see, there are a variety of ways to explore Uluru, and, no matter which you choose you will be properly awarded for your effort and time. Plan the trip when it is convenient for you and enjoy one of the most awesome sites in Australia.

Haad Rin is the main tourist town on the beautiful tropical Thai island of Koh Phangan. It used to be a hippy hangout until the dramatic rise of the Full Moon Party as the best and biggest regular beach party in the world. The economy of Haad Rin and indeed much of the island is now reliant on the 20,000 people who regularly descend on Koh Phangan for the big party.

Despite the fact that Haad Rin is a tourist trap it is not such a bad place. The town is small and restricted from growing by the geography of the area. It is less busy than Chaweng on Koh Samui and is also free of go-go bars.

Instead the narrow roads of Haad Rin are lined with shops, restaurants, gyms and guest houses. There is one nightclub called Club 9. You can find Indian, Israeli, Japanese, Thai, Australian, English and Scandinavian food in the many bars and cafes of Haad Rin.

For those who like going out at night and having a few drinks Haad Rin is definitely the best place to do so in Koh Phangan. There are bars with live sports, guest beers and happy hours. There are also Muay Thai shows to enjoy.

As the full moon approaches Haad Rin starts to fill up and the prices for Haad Rin accommodation go up to peak season prices. The bars on the beach and in the town hold warm up parties. The Drop in Club has a foam party just before the FMP to pull in the punters.

As you might imagine, on the night of the party Haad Rin becomes a place of mayhem. Everywhere there are bodies daubed in fluorescent paint having fun or passed out. The main party is on the long Haad Rin Sunrise Beach but the whole town heaves with people during the event.

At the start of the Full Moon Party the event was largely un-policed and free. Now there is a strong police presence at the party and they charge people entering Haad Rin on the night.

If you love to meet people and party on a beach then Haad Rin will be heaven for you. If you want to go to sleep to the sound of waves lapping on the shore scratch Haad Rin from your list.

Yachting, fishing, farming, wonderful beaches as well as cattle ranches are but a couple of things that you can find in the city of Fort Pierce. This scenic city extends coming from the Atlantic Ocean, all the way towards the western boundary of St. Lucie County. Fort Pierce, with its population of around 41, 000, is a very spacious and slow paced municipality.

During the holiday season, there are several holiday activities and events that take place in the city, which you would definitely not want to let pass and this includes the Smithsonian Marine Station Holiday Camp, Santa Sail as well as Hallstrom Planetarium’s Star of Wonder, just to name a few.

The Downtown of Fort Pierce

Fort Pierce Florida is called “the Sunrise City” and it is a tiny coastal community along the Treasure coast and is home to roughly 40,000 residents. It is situated within St Lucie County in between Indian River County and Martin County.

It travels down on the inter-coastal waterway along the famous Indian River Lagoon. Fort Pierces’ historic downtown was fully restored during the 1990’s in order to bring up to date its 1924 Sunrise Theater, restaurants and shops.

Driving Distances from Fort Pierce

The city is, more or less, two hours drive northwest towards Orlando Florida and one-and-a-half hours drive straight north towards Cape Canaveral. If you are to drive southwards coming from the city of Fort Pierce, it is roughly one hour towards the West Palm Beach International Airport and one-and-a-half hours towards the also equally popular Delray Beach for great shopping and fine dining.

If you and your family are looking for a fun and exciting adventure this coming holiday season, it is highly recommended that you go and visit the city of Fort Pierce! A great experience awaits the entire family in this charming, scenic city!

Going on holiday is meant to be a stress free, relaxing time. Whether you’ve gone away to a family holiday park or abroad, there are those who like to use scams to ruin your holiday, if only you knew about these scams before you went away. Well that’s what this post is for; here is an insight into most well-known holiday scams on holiday.

Any of these scams can take place at any time, locally or abroad, but of course you will be more vulnerable when abroad.

Money exchange

The most common scam abroad would be locals asking, if you would like to exchange your currency for theirs. They could scam you by giving you less for your money or even short changing you, even worse still would be giving you counterfeit money in return. It’s advisable for you to exchange money before you go abroad and to keep an eye on the exchange rate so you don’t get short changed. Also watch out for pick pockets, always spread your money so that it’s not in one place, and the harder it is for them, the more likely they will leave you alone.

Transport

This is an easy way for people to scam money, especially abroad. Make sure you agree a rough price of how much it will be before you get in, and if you have time you can call/ask different taxi services how much it would be so that you know a rough price. If possible book a taxi through the hotel you are staying with or you can have a look online to see if it’s a registered taxi company.

Some drivers abroad have been known to agree a price beforehand, but then they would drop you off before you reach your destination and still demand the whole price, this has been known to cause scenes which is usually pretty embarrassing, especially abroad when you may not understand their languages.

Travelling on your own

If you are a solo traveller, you need to be vigilant and try to stay extra safe as you will be vulnerable and would be con artists might see you an easy target. These types of scams involve being befriended usually by a local and then later mugged; So just remember that no matter how friendly the locals may appear, use your senses and avoid vulnerable situations even with people who seem trustworthy.

When travelling you will almost certainly want to take part in fun holiday activities, be it watersports or bungy jumping, but some activities can be scam hotspots, in which operators prey on the unwary, so keep a look out and book activities with registered companies, try to avoid ‘side of the road’ operators and as usual, agree a price before hand.

There are several factors that you really need to take into consideration when searching for accommodation in Belfast. We now venture to examine four of those closely. These are factors that would tell you, among other things, where you should actually seek accommodation in Belfast, what sort of accommodation you should seek for and so on. And without further ado, the factors that you really need to take into consideration when searching for accommodation in Belfast include:

The purpose of your Belfast visit. If, for instance, you are likely to be meeting people you really need to impress in the course of your Belfast visit, it would make sense for you to opt for high-end accommodation, in order to impress them. If you are visiting Belfast to attend a conference (whose proceedings are likely to drag late into the night), it would make sense for you to seek accommodation near the venue of the conference. If you are visiting Belfast as a tourist (with a view to simply unwind), you’d be better off seeking accommodation at one of the resorts which are designed to help patrons ‘get away from it all.’ All these may come across as very obvious things, but we so often see people opting for accommodation which is totally out of line with their purpose of their visits – leading to great inconveniences.

The amount of money you have for expenditure on accommodation. This will, of course, determine what you can actually afford, in terms of accommodation facilities. If you have lots of money for accommodation, you should ensure that the type of accommodation you ultimately opt for is one that gives you real value for your money. If the sum of money you have is limited, it may make sense for you to focus your energies into the search for cheap but decent accommodation: which can always be found, if you are keen enough.

The duration of your visit to Belfast. This will determine the ideal type of accommodation for you. If, for instance, you are visiting for two or three days for weekend breaks in Northern Ireland, hotel accommodation (or accommodation in a bed and breakfast joint, assuming you are budget constrained) would be ideal. If you are visiting for a month or two, and you have a bit of money, you may contemplate getting accommodation in a share-time villa or apartment. If you are visiting Belfast for a year, you may contemplate enrolling into a hostel, or simply getting your own (furnished) apartment – because although it looks short, a year is actually a very long duration of time.

The number of people you are visiting Belfast with. If you are visiting Belfast as a party, and you are keen on staying together all through, you will find your options in terms of accommodation possibly limited. Most hotels are likely to have only one or two accommodation openings at a time. Thus, if you are traveling in a huge group, and you have to stay together all along, it may make sense to make advance bookings in establishments which have the capacity to accommodate many people. On the other hand, if you are traveling alone or with just one other person, you will find yourself with greater room for choice, when searching for accommodation in Belfast.

San Juan is home to some of the friendliest people you will meet in the Caribbean who take great pride in their Puerto Rican heritage. A heritage rooted in Spanish culture dating back to the 1500′s. This culture has led to some amazing places to eat and stay in San Juan. The following are three of those places that can make any traveller fall in love with San Juan.

Hotel El Convento

Tucked away in the heart of Old San Juan is one of the best hotels in the Caribbean. The Hotel El Convento is a small luxury boutique hotel built in a former Spanish convent and features world class service and old world charm. You can grab a free glass of wine at the daily manager reception or take a dip in the plunge pool overlooking the San Juan Cathedral. The hotel doesn’t come cheap but deals can occasionally be found in the off season. The hotel is a popular spot for weddings and those looking for a romantic stay before boarding one of the many cruises from San Juan.

Pina Coladas

What we know is, San Juan is the birthplace of the pina colada. What we aren’t quite sure of is which bar it was originally concocted. Two bars claim to be the rightful birthplace of the pina coloada. Both the Caribe Hilton Beachcomber Bar and Barrachina claim to be the original creators and debates can get downright spirited (no pun intended). Since there may be no way to know for sure you are better off just trying them both.

La Bombonera

Ham and cheese breakfast sandwiches coated with powdered sugar may not sound good at first, but one taste of the mallorcas served at La Bombonera and you will be hooked. This famous eatery in Old San Juan has been serving up mallorcas, fresh squeezed orange juice and the best cafe con leche you will ever have for over 100 years. La Bombonera wasn’t built for tourist and in fact would probably be considered more of a locals spot. In other words don’t expect anything fancy and be prepared to wait a bit for a table. Don’t let that stop you though because it is worth the wait.

The Ring of Kerry is a scenic drive to see some of Ireland’s natural beauty in the southwest of Ireland in the county Kerry. The driving route starts in Killarney and travels around a 179 km circular road passing through the beautiful towns of towns of Killorglin, Cahirciveen, Waterville, Sneem and Kenmare. It is a popular day trip with a lot of attractions to see along the way. If your time is short these are the five must see things along your journey.

The Kerry Bog Village Museum

Step back in time as you see how people lived and worked in the 18th Century. This is the only village of its kind in Europe. The village consists of exact replicas of dwellings in the early 1800′s. See how Blacksmith’s worked and talk with the villagers as you take a step back in time. The village also features the rare Kerry ponies.

Muckross Abbey

Located in The Killarney National Park this is the site was founded in 1482 by the Franciscian friary for the Observantine Franciscans by Donal McCarthy Mor. The nearly 1500 year old fort is built without mortar and is an amazing architectural structure. The interior has various stairways leading to various terraces. The fort is surrounded by a large ditch and banks. Much folklore is surrounding the use of why the fort was built including people of small stature coming to mine for ore or copper in the area. The observation center tells the story of it’s history. This is the largest and finest stone forts in Ireland today.

The city of San Diego is easily one of the most famous tourist destinations in the US. This city has a large expanse of beaches, all-year warm climate and is famous for its historical sights. These are some of the reasons top San Diego attractions have continued to draw people to the city like a magnet. In terms of location, San Diego is on the west coast of America and shares a border with Mexico. Like most parts of California, the city of San Diego has a sunny climate. The winters are mild and snow is very rare in this west coast city.

For most visitors in San Diego, a day at the beach is the classic way to enjoy the city. Some top San Diego attractions include the Pacific Beach, the Coronado Beach and the Sunset Cliffs. Tourists to this city can surf on these beaches, walk around or just chill on the beach.

Tourists who are interested in history can simply visit the Cabrillo National Monument.
Other places of interest in San Diego are the Balboa Park and the Old Town San Diego. On the other hand, the Old Town San Diego is a great place to get a bite of Mexican food and drink some fresh margaritas. People who want to do some shopping can simply go to the Gaslamp District. All the popular shops, restaurants and hotels are located in this vicinity.

Finally, visits to the San Diego Zoo and the popular Sea World will complete the San Diego attractions experience. You can find them both on the San Diego City Pass.

Do you work hard? Of course you do, but do you play hard as well? All work and no play can make you a dull person. The best way to put some excitement in your life is to get away and take a vacation. This is why, despite your financial means, there should always be time for a vacation. Since your money and time is limited, this article will concentrate on advice to help you take that vacation you deserve. Take a mini vacation, and there is no better way to do this then by taking a mini cruise. Mini cruises can be booked last minute, last for a weekend, and cost a fraction of what you would pay for a full length cruise.

Cruises like the Carnival Valor, one of the most enjoyable forms of vacation. You do not have to worry about booking a hotel, finding places to eat, and as long as you can find the ship, you have everything you could want with in walking distance. As if that was not good enough, you are treated like a monarch on deck. Anything that you could possibly want or think of is at your fingertips. If you wish to relax, then soak up those sun rays and get a massage from one of the world famous masseuses on deck. Many people love to shop and most cruise liners have their own mall on them so you can shop your heart out in the middle of the magnificent sea. While others are relaxing in the sun or shopping, you might prefer a little friendly competition. You can play shuffle board, water basketball, run track, and more to feed your urge for competition. At night, the cruise ships come alive with entertainment. There are restaurants, clubs, and best of yet a beautiful view. You are the master of your own destiny when on a cruise.
Mini cruise breaks offer all of these luxuries at less cost and time. Not only do you pay less, but you go for fewer days. There is no better way to recover from a stressful work week then the open seas and activity filled decks of a mini cruise. Better yet mini cruises can be training wheels for a full length cruise. Many first time “cruisers” will try a shorter cruise to see if they will like it and if they will become sea sick. When leaving on a cruise, who could know that a two day vacation would become a once in a lifetime experience.

The question that comes to mind to many people is where to find a mini cruise. You can easily find a one anywhere there is coast line. Even mini cruises from New York are available for the people of the Big Apple to get away for a weekend. Unfortunately, not everyone lives near the coast line. No need to fear, many cruise lines offer an air/sea program. This includes the flight to and from your city, baggage, transportation from the airport to the cruise liner, and the cruise itself. Another aspect to take in consideration when making a travel budget is whether the cruise is all-inclusive or there are items that must be paid for. An all-inclusive cruise will cover things like drinks, food, shore excursions, etc. Generally, this type of cruise may seem like it should cost more, but in the long run inflated prices on board may make a non-inclusive cruise a very pricy and stressful one.

If the price of your cruise is still an issue, try choosing a different room. Depending on the location and view of your room, your price may sky rocket. Rooms range from the most expensive, a stateroom with a verandah, to a more modest room on the inside of the ship with no view of the ocean. Inside cabins may lack the relaxing feeling the others have, but if you’re trying to save money and plan on just sleeping there, it is a smart choice. Generally when all said and done, if you are living near the port you are looking around $500 minimum for your vacation. If you have to fly in you are looking more around $700 for your weekend getaway.

Remember that all work and no play make you a dull person. Even if that mini cruise seems out of your reach now there still is hope. Just like when you were a kid set aside a piggy bank. Every paycheck make sure you pay “yourself” first before spending any of the money you earned. You will be surprised with how short it takes to raise the money to get to your mini cruise. Wither it is $100, $50, or pocket change every little bit will help you reach your goal. Instead of sitting at your job wishing that you can get away on a cruise, set a goal date of your cruise, budget it, and go! This small idea can become a big reality with dedication. After all, who wants to be dull always?

Anyone interested in planning a vacation but looking for a new twist on standard hotel rooms and board has the option of selecting a retro hotel to spice up their travel arraignments. Retro hotels offer the same amenities and comforts as a normal institution, but do so by taking you back in time to relive the decades past. The size and capabilities of such hotels range from small bed and breakfast joints that may have rooms designed to look and feel centuries old, to larger scale buildings that emulate the classical feel of a 70s pad. Retro hotels do not usually cost more than their contemporaries, making them a place that is off the beaten path for intrepid travelers. Some are well known, like the Habbz Hotel Retro of Mexico, while others are hidden gems on your path across a country.

Of all the “time warp” styles, perhaps the most commonly used in the best retro hotels is the nostalgic 1950s setting. The Retro Suites Hotel in Chatham, Ontario features the authentic decor of brick walls and vibrant wallpaper to enact a scene that may be familiar to some travelers’ childhoods. The Retro Suites is one of the more popular stays in all of Canada for the lengths they go to in order to look and feel authentic to their time frame. The hallway and lobby have an elegant air and antique furniture, while a downstairs wine bar allows travelers to mingle in the same style of their parents — or perhaps grandparents! Each room has its own name, giving a sense of autonomy in comparison to modern day hotels with cookie cutter rooms. The television resembles a decades old cube but provides full satellite and digital cable channels. The Retro Suites are not only known for their style but also their cleanliness and service; many customers say that it is one of the most spotless rooms they have ever stayed overnight in.

The Palms Retro in Atlantic Beach, Florida, takes the passion for the styles of bygone years to a new level. They too boast rooms with names, but do so to emulate celebrities of the past, ranging from a room designed around Lucille Ball to John F. Kennedy to Marilyn Monroe. Famous pieces of art line the walls while biographies in book and movie form are neatly arraigned on the table. The courtyard, which boasts a classic modeled swimming pool, pumps the very first chords of rock n roll through the deck while a malt shop and diner allows you to experience the cuisine of yesteryear. Indeed, the Palms Retro functions as often for social events and large gatherings as it does for rooms; many honeymooners or anniversaries are spent inside their walls while business meetings or even full blown family reunions provide a fun spin on a normal pastime.

If you want something more recent and something you may be able to relate to, the Phoenix Hotel and Civic Center of San Francisco takes you back to the height of the seventies. Described as an oasis among pop art and palm trees, the Phoenix Hotel spares no expense to be a blast from your past. Thoroughly decked out in thick shag carpeting, the vibrant rooms and lobby are designed with fung shui in mind to properly attune each area with a person’s self. A favored pit stop of rock legends over the past few decades, the Phoenix has several rules — some fairly strict — about policy and procedure, but provides an enjoyable stay to those who stay inside the guidelines. Many claim that the company and conversations you pick up just lounging about the pool and bar make the visit worthwhile.

Of course, along your travels you may find the retro hotel known more for their nightlife than for the quality of their night’s rest. The Bristol Arms Retro Hotel in Sydney, Australia has the reputation of being one of the best stops for clubbing and dancing in the entire city. Offering capacity for parties from ten to a thousand guests, the Bristol Arms boasts theme nights for their clientele. One fun such night is Goodstock, a tribute to the history of music and free love, in which you can get in free by dressing as a peace happy hippie. Likewise, the Retrobics nights encourage customers to dress in the aerobic fashions of yesteryear to dance in antiquated comfort. On select occasions, there are retro game nights, where members can play anything from Hungry Hungry Hippos to Pong for prizes or free drinks.

If you want a change from a normal traveling routine, a retro hotel may be right up your alley. Rather than a bland room, you get the inspiration and design of ages past. Some may have limited space, so booking ahead of time ensures a spot when you roll into town.
